We posted a blog article on our monthly Injury Blog and cross promoted it on our social media channels on NIPD. The blog article introduces Jenna Gibbs, the new program manager for injury and outreach at the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital. She discusses the hospital's NIPD activities, as well as pediatric agricultural injuries: the importance of assigning farm chores that are appropriate for a child’s age and abilities, the need to balance safety with real-world farm experiences, and the role of the Children’s Hospital in promoting safety in rural communities, including during National Injury Prevention Day. In addition, we created a social media toolkit for NIPD that lives on our NIPD webpage on our center website. We promoted this toolkit (sample messages about injury prevention in Iowa and images for 4 platforms) on social media and during the Iowa Preventing Childhood Injury Conference on November 17. Also, we created 4 faculty features representing the departments within the UI College of Public Health. These highlight ways the faculty work in injury prevention and personal practice of injury prevention. They will live on our website and were promoted across social media channels in the weeks leading up to NIPD. Finally, we promoted NIPD in Dr. Carri Casteel's Injury and Violence Prevention class at the College of Public Health. Around 30 students wore green and posed for a photo, which was shared on social media.
